This summer we are upping our event game! We kicked off the season with a Speakeasy featuring music by the Al Berven Trio, signature 1920s cocktails, and a flapper costume contest. The end of the school year was celebrated with “Student Week.” Kids stopped in to play BINGO, do history scavenger hunts, paint rocks, and take part in science experiments. Adults have plenty of learning opportunities too during our new “Hanging out with History” series of presentations, where the public is invited to bring their sack lunch and a friend for a noon hour program. The local garden club sponsored a speaker who taught about the monarch butterflies of South Dakota and we have programs lined up featuring a true crime in Sioux Falls, Scandinavian music and stories, and cowboy poetry set to music.
